Fit from the farm

It’s not often that we’re able to go out to eat, let alone find a restaurant that we’re all happy with and one that serves healthy options, as well. When you have kids, that can be a pretty tall order!

I was a bit surprised when my son asked if this year, for his birthday, we could gather the family at Bob Evans for breakfast. Really? Breakfast at Bob Evans? Not pizza at Chuck E. Cheese’s?

Turns out, our 11-year-old is pretty darn smart. Bob Evans has a new menu feature call Fit From The Farm, and there are breakfast, lunch and dinner items! All Fit From The Farm menu items are 650 calories or less, 0g trans fat have no MSG in them. Surprsingly, they’re quite delicious, as well.

We returned for dinner this week while we were out shopping. I ordered the Chicken, Spinach and Tomato Pasta. It was so good, I stopped our waitress and asked “Are you sure that this is one of the Fit From The Farm items?” I swear to you, it didn’t taste like it should’ve been a healthier choice – it was delicious! Oven roasted chicken, fresh baby spinach, diced tomatoes and spaghetti tossed lightly in olive oil, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. That does not sound like diet food to me!

There are several menu options for all three meals, and all look really tasty! Potato-Crusted Flounder, Grilled Salmon Fillet, Apple Cranberry Spinach Salad, and more – all part of the new Bob Evans Fit From The Farm menu!
