If Pixar tells me that Chris Pratt and Tom Holland are in the same film again, there’s no question – I’m giving them all of my money now. Like, how soon can we order tickets to this new film?

The new film is, in fact, called “Onward” and besides Pratt and Holland, stars Octavia Spencer and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Four Things We Know About Disney/Pixar’s Onward

Here are a few things we know for sure about Onward; just enough to hold you over until more details, or a new trailer, are released.

We have to wait until next year for its release

Sorry, folks. We have to wait until the spring of 2020 – yep, it’s months away – but that’s no reason not to get excited about it now!

Since the film has a star-studded cast and the studios are already promoting it, you can bet that it’s going to be another classic.

We have little details about the story

The two main characters, Barney and Ian, live in a small town called New Mushroomton. It’s your typical small town, if your town’s residents were mermaids, unicorns, dragons, and other creatures we thought didn’t exist.

It seems the brothers (voiced by Pratt and Holland) are “going on a grand and glorious quest.” According to Holland’s character, however, “it’s not a quest, it’s just a really fast and strange errand.”

Why Onward is going to be a hit

First, “Onward” is written and directed by Dan Scanlon of Pixar Studios. He’s best known for his work on Monsters University and Inside Out – both huge hits for the studio.

It’s production team includes Kori Rae (Monsters University, The Incredibles, Up) and the amazing Academy Award-winning Pete Docter (Inside Out, Up, Toy Story)

There’s a few hidden gems we’ve already noticed just during the short first look at the film.

We can safely assume that this toll booth operator is a troll. What other mythical creature would work at the “Under Bridge” Transportation Authority and accept “cash or riddle” as payment?

While some child’s parents are proud enough to display a bumper sticker that their child made the “Honor Scroll”, other’s are shopping at the REALLY Big and Tall store after trading their gems for cash.

Ugh. Unicorns are the new trash pandas of Disney/Pixar's Onward

The pegasus – a majestic creature adorning old vans – seems to have much more importance than unicorns – the new trash pandas.

Ugh. Unicorns.

The number 313 in Pixar's Onward

Writer and director Dan Scanlon is from Michigan so we think that the address for Barney’s and Ian’s home is a nod to Detroit area code 313.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Disney/Pixar’s theatrical release of Onward, March 2020!
