I’m not sure for how long we’ve been Netflix subscribers; I would venture to guess that it’s been at least 3 years. I was thrilled to be asked by Netflix to be part of their Netflix Stream Team because it’s a service that our family already uses and really likes. As a blogging family, we get the opportunity to try new products and services quite often and write about our experience with them. Sometimes we like a product, but we may not make it part of our everyday life. Others we find great use for and they become part of our routine. Netflix is a service with which we were already familiar and was part of our everyday life.
In case you’re not familiar, Netflix is a service that allows you to stream movies and television shows for a low monthly subscription fee. We used it because our local cable company is known for poor service and high prices, so we had the absolute basic service and we were missing some really great shows.
The shows that we were able to see on our measly cable service were sometimes missed because life got in the way of our television watching (seriously, there’s a whole world out there!). We didn’t have DVR or TiVo, but we were able to watch many of our favorites by streaming them on Netflix the next day, including Saturday Night Live which we often missed because, well, our days are exhausting as parents.
Eventually, when we upgraded to DISH Network, we thought we’d no longer need Netflix because we had everything we wanted – our favorite shows and the ability to record them – but we discovered that Netflix still had it’s advantages. We love their original series shows, like House of Cards and Orange is The New Black, we could catch up on shows that we missed like Breaking Bad (HELLO!), and we can play the kids’ favorite shows on demand.
As a Netflix Stream Team member this year, we’re looking forward to sharing these and other benefits of being a Netflix subscriber as well as some tips and tricks that you might not know if you’re already a Netflix subscriber.
I was not monetarily compensated for this post. I was provided with complimentary Netflix service during my time as a Netflix Stream Team member and was give a Roku 3 on which to stream Netflix. All opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.
